has anyone gone through premature menopause or early menopause?
My question is has anyone gone through premature natural menopause before the age of 40. Or early menopause, early 40’s? I’m really afraid because I’m 39 and since the age of 33 I’ve on and off had hot flashes, light periods and then sometimes heavier. If you did go through this did this age you a lot? I’m really worried because I’ve read this produces less collagen in the skin and thins your hair. Especially when you go through menopause prematurely or early. If anyone has gone through menopause in this way, do you feel it has aged you a lot? And what do you do when you reach menopause that’s healthy. Do you take anything or just do nothing?
Please tell me your age or the age of someone you know that has gone through it young. Do they look really old?

My mom went through early menopause and she looks great for her age. It was rough for her at the time, but she made it through and you will too, but it didn’t age her any more than normal.

My mother went through early menopause. She looks amazing for her age! It is believed she had polycysticovarysyndrome and that is why she had early menopause. She takes care of herself though as early menopause does have it complications.
1. She has an excellent relationship with her GP. Goes for all her regular check ups ect.
2. She eats fish. Tuna, salmon sardines eeuuwww.
3. She exercises everyday. Walking or swimming or water aerobics.
4. She takes fish oil tablets.
5. She has a well balanced diet.
Hope this helps!

I started symptoms at 38. By age 45 I was having major symptoms. They were driving me crazy, periods were very irregular, got flashes, night sweats, moody. Also ended up with fibroids. Because of the fibroids I went to my OB/GYN wanting a hysterectomy. He tried to talk me into having a partial because he said I was too young for a total because my ovaries would still be too big. Told him I’d been going through meno for several years and wanted a total. (my family doc advised this because she knew about my symptoms). So I had the total. After the surgery he said my ovaries were almost non-existent because I was so far into menopause. He tried to get me to go on HRT because he said my symptoms would now get worse. My family doc said HRT is bad for you. So I refused. My symptoms are now completely gone after having the hysto. No more hot flashes, moodiness, night sweats, and of course, no more periods. And I can’t get cervical, uterine, or ovarian cancer now.
Now, has it aged me? Heck no. People say I look 10-15 years younger than my age and that I act it also. I love life, have lots of fun, and enjoy my children. I can still turn somersaults (backwards and forwards), work out, run a mile, walk 10 miles, etc, etc. I have no hair thinning problems. I take care of my skin. I do take vitamins and eat right.
Hope this helps.
