Prop 8 Overturned Analysis – NBC Today Show (8-5-10)

September 3, 2010

While some claim that the judge should not have been on the case, would they also say that an African-American or female judge shouldn’t decide a case about discrimination against their own group? The bottom line is that the gay side presented a lot of objective data and studies while the Prop 8 side presented none. Would you rather have your laws be based on facts or fears? Here’s what homophobes fear most: years of gay marriage will pass and people will see that none of their claims came true. Just as the experiences of places that have gay marriage have shown. Again, you homophobes, answer these questions: 1) How exactly does two homosexuals marrying affect your own marriages? Are your relationships so pathetically fragile that their stability depends on actions of gays??? Give me proof that gay marriage has ruined Canada, Holland, Spain, etc. 2) Those who claim that it’s about children … I challenge you to show me one marriage law that requires a couple to procreate. In fact, I know of no such law anywhere in the world. If procreation is a requirement for marriage, what happens to couples who change their minds? Will you require an annulment? Are post-menopausal women and sterile people allowed to marry? How about celibate heterosexuals? And btw, most gays are just as biologically able to reproduce as heterosexuals — in fact, more so than a 60 y/o women. So
